How might one convince a Jehovah's Witness to read "Crisis of Conscience?"

i'm well into the book, can't put it down, it is just so fascinating and so utterly devastating to the credibility of the wtbts.

i suspect that any jehovah's witness who has a modicum of self respect and intelligence could not but finish the book a step or more on the path to emancipation from this awful, people destroying religion.. i really want my wife to read this book but i anticipate that she will refuse on the basis of it having been banned by the society as the worst kind of apostate literature.

i am genuinely saddened that she will not grant me the same kind of trust and respect she gives so lovingly to her watchtower masters and i will doubtless say this to her when she turns down my invitation.

A few old JW books free to a good Apostate home

i have a few old books of my fathers that i'd like to give away to a good apostate home, free if anyone wants them.. i have "the kingdom is at hand" i don't see a date on it anywhere so i don't know how old it is exactly.. i also have "the new world" copyright 1942. and i have "jehovah's witnesses, the new world society" second printing edition june 1955, written by marley cole, published by vantage press, inc of ny, library of congress card 54-12633. .

Needed Organizational Changes for WT

i am concerned about the spiritual welfare of the jehovah's witnesses.

surely we all have noticed an unhealthy development in their leaders attitude, the "governing body".

they have more and more begun to emphasize their importance and their power, in the literature and talks and thereby drawing unnecessary much attention to themselves.

End of the World Predictions that Failed

for any of you christian or otherwise who feel that the " end of the world " is coming please refer to this historical list of failed " end of the world " prophecies which never happened : http://www.religioustolerance.org/end_wrl2.htm .

history is complete with stories of failed , alleged " prophecies " of the coming of the end of the world- allegedly.

news for everybody- organized religion does this to control it's members through fear and guilt by telling them that they are all born sinners and that god is coming with a " day of reckoning " in which everybody has to " pay up " for their sins , or be rewarded - allegedly - for being better than other people who sin.. i'll say for the record- i think it's total control, manipulation, and scare tactics used by religion throughout history .

I was actually going to order a bunch of Camping's free bumperstickers, etc announcing the date but I had to download some caca from his site in order to get the order through. Decided not to risk it. I thought that stuff might have made a little money on Ebay.

Do the Harold Campings of the world make witnesses question their own beliefs?

now that harold camping has been proven wrong again, er, the rapture is taking place at another date because he is an imperfect man, one question that comes to my mind is whether this kind of fiascos ever make active jehovah's witness connect the dots and realize they have been deceived as well.. also, i wonder if active witnesses ever get to think that if unbelievers were right about not believing camping, maybe they are also right about something else?

perhaps relying on reason is not that misguided after all?.

i would love to see your opinions on this.. .

The failures of others only reinforces the Witnesses' belief in their superiority. Keep in mind that, due to their high turnover, most Witnesses aren't even aware of any changes that have been made in the recent past.

Bacon...at Walmart, almost $6.00!!??

oscar mayer bacon almost six bucks...what gives?

a month ago the same package was $3.50.

Baltar; the effect on feed prices due to ethanol production had its major impact years ago. The dramatic rise in grain prices is due to major crop disasters.

Russia/Ukraine (a major wheat exporter). Up to 40% damage to wheat crop due to drought and intense heat.
Pakistan. Extensive crop damage due to massive flooding.
Australia (a major wheat exporter). Due to massive flooding, a substantial amount of the wheat crop is downgraded to animal feed status.
Canada (a major wheat exporter). Heavy damage to wheat crop due to intense rains.
China (a major consumer of wheat). Near total loss of winter wheat crop due to drought.
Argentina. Soybean crop substantially damaged due to drought.
Mexico. Damage to corn crop requiring a 50% increase in the amount of corn imported from the United States.

Rest assured that the weather that has caused such damage will continue throughout this decade and beyond. If biofuel production were to be halted right this moment, it would only make a modest and temporary impact on prices.

Assume the worse from now on. High prices are here to stay.
